In freelance market place have many jobs about on server transfer. Within few steps I am going describe “How to server transfer a website”. Let’s start from backup a site from old server.

First steps: In this step I am going to describe how backup a website for server transfer. To backup a site manually you must to access you cpanel and going your target website public folder. On the public folder zip all file in a file and double click on the zip file and start download the zip file. In this zip have your all the with CMS and other necessary file. Now you have to backup you website database. To take database backup click on “phpMyAdmin” from cpanel home. When click on “phpMyAdmin” sometime it login automatically and sometime you need to login by access. Going your target database on which your site was running.  You can get database name in wp-config.php file which public folder. After clicked your target database select check all from bottom of the table. and click on export which are shown below image.

Open below page when clicked on export and click on “Go” than start download your database in sql format, Here also have some advanced option if your database size so big you can zipped file from “Custom – display all possible options” box select.

Steps two: Login on new cpanel and going public folder. Now upload your theme backup zip file and extract this file here.

Steps three: If your website URL changed you must edit database backup file. Open the sql file in a editor and replaced all old URL by new website URL. If website url not change you need to any edit in database backup. Going a database in new server where the new website will run. If you not have database, you must need to create a database. It is better that if same database name with old database name. Going new database click on “import” open a page like below image and File to Import: to drag and drop your database here. Now click on “Go” button from below of the page.

Now login admin panel by using old username and password than change permalink once from setting. And now every info is ok. Can browse your website from new server.
